The Davis Art Gallery: Stitched – Knot What It Seams Tibetan Prayer Net, 30” diameter x 40” long, 2019

This net contains the 5 colors of Tibetan Prayer Flags.  Each panel contains 7 rows of 5 square knots in a field of mesh knots.  Each square knot has been slid to a stopper knot creating a slack loop, giving the cylinder additional annular thickness and texture.  If the square knots are returned to the original position, the net will transform in length and shape. The binary aspect of the knot positions makes this piece a digital device capable of storing very large numbers or being used to display varying degrees of physical transformation.
