Chris G. King

Chris King was born in Maine, USA, in 1958. He has been tying knots since being introduced to macramé in a high school art class. Chris graduated from MIT in 1982 with a BS in Materials Science & Engineering, specializing in glass and ceramics. During his career, Chris developed superconducting wire, cable and high magnetic field coils for high-energy physics, fusion, medical imaging and naval applications. Currently, Chris lives in Worcester, MA with his lovely wife, Patricia.

Philosophy

Chris combines the study of materials, science, and math with application to sculpture through rope making, knotting, and weaving. More recently, Chris has been making large macramé pieces from fishing ropes and nets found abandoned and washed up on beaches.
